Korean American Tenor John Kun Park is rapidly gaining recognition for his "stentorian voice" equipped with his emotional depth and compelling stage presence (Almanac).
John began his 2025-2026 season debuting the title role of Samson in Saint-Saëns' Samson et Dalila West Bay Opera. He will return to Opera on the James to debut the role of B.F. Pinkerton in Puccini's Madama Butterfly, then will join the New Jersey Festival Orchestra for their Holiday Tenor concert in December. In the Spring, John will make his company debut with Opera Montana and revive the role of Mario Cavaradossi in Puccini's Tosca.
Park's 2024-2025 season was full of major role debuts, featuring title roles of Otello by Verdi West Bay Opera, Manrico Il Trovatore Boheme Opera of NJ, Rodolfo La boheme Opera on the James, Loud Stone Eurydice (Aucoin) Opera Grand Rapids, and the Daruma Doll Both Eyes Open (Max Duykers) New Performance Traditions. He concluded the season covering the role of Mario Cavaradossi Tosca with the Glimmerglass Festival.

In recent seasons, John has sung Mario Cavaradossi Tosca Opera Modesto, Erik Der Fliegende Holländer West Bay Opera, Bacchus Ariadne auf Naxos Berlin Opera Academie, Ismaele Nabucco West Bay Opera, Erste König Der Liebe Die Danae Pittsburgh Festival Opera, Tenor I The Tibetan Book of the Dead Opera Grand Rapids, Rick I was Looking at the Ceiling and Then I saw the Sky InSeries Opera Washington, DC, and Don Jose Carmen Central City Opera. At Lancaster’s Penn Square Opera for their Opera Couples Therapy concert, he headlined signature pieces and duets from Carmen, Cavalleria Rusticana and Tosca. Last season, he finished with Mid America Productions at Carnegie Hall as their guest Tenor Soloist for Mozart’s Coronation Mass. John has covered Adolfo Pirelli and Beadle Bamford in Sweeney Todd with Des Moines Metro, and Canio in I Pagliacci with Opera Tampa.
John has performed with various other companies, debuting roles such as Siegmund Die Walküre, Florestan Fidelio LA Philharmonic, John Adams Gertrude Stein & Virgil Thompson’s The Mother of Us All, Anatol in Vanessa and the title role in Faust. He has also been a featured soloist with the LA Philharmonic, Chautauqua Opera and Sarasota Opera. He was a finalist for the Wagner Society of New York’s competition and received an encouragement grant, and is a recipient of the prestigious Olga Forrai foundation grant.
